“Poor Man’s Paradise” Exhibit at Project Onward 8/15/25 – 9/27/25

Nick Jackson, a member of the Maxwell Street Foundation’s Advisory Council and artist working at Project Onward, is curating a Maxwell Street-related exhibition this summer at the Maxwell Street Market and in Project Onward’s exhibition space. Project Onward is a studio for artists with developmental disabilities and mental illnesses. Please see the details below for our collaborative event; contact  for more information.


The exhibition “Poor Man’s Paradise”, will exhibit at Project Onward (1200 W 35th St, 4th Floor) from 08/15 – 09/27. The show includes the work of eight different artists (Michael BryantBill DouglasAndrew HallR.J. JuguilonFernando RamirezAlita Van HeeRicky Willis, and George Zuniga). They’ll present paintings, drawings, and sculptures that visualize their own Maxwell Street memories, as well as exploring the place’s cultural legacy. The artwork will be exhibited alongside original artifacts from the history of the Market, generously loaned by the Maxwell Street Foundation.


There will be an opening on Friday 08/15/25 from 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM and a guided visit of the exhibit on Saturday 09/06/25, from 2:00 PM – 3:30 PM. In conjunction with the show, Project Onward will also be a vendor at the Maxwell Street Market on August 10, 2025, selling prints and artwork related to the history of the market, as well as other artwork from our studio.
