
October 10th and 11th: CHICAGO SPOLIN INTENSIVE WITH ARETHA SILLS AT JANE ADDAMS HULL-HOUSE MUSEUM
On Saturday Oct. 10 and Sunday Oct. 11, 2025, Aretha Sills, the granddaughter of Viola Spolin, will be side-coaching an improvisational acting workshop at the UIC Jane Addams Hull House, 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM, for actors, educators, directors, and improvisers.

Working with immigrants from the Maxwell Street neighborhood in the 1930s and 40s, Viola Spolin created Theater Games which became the basis for world Improvisational comedy at Second City, SNL TV, and the creation of the Blues Brothers.
Designed to introduce the key principles of Viola Spolin’s revolutionary acting, directing, and teaching methods in two days (eight hours of play), the weekend intensive with side-coach Aretha Sills will help players be more fully present onstage and off.”
