Tour the old Maxwell Street area during Chicago Blues Fest!

Share:

Saturday, June 10, 2017, 10:00 a.m. Meet on the southwest corner of Maxwell & Halsted Streets (in front of Peet’s coffee shop, 1328 S. Halsted) in Chicago for a guided walking tour of the neighborhood where electrified Blues was born! Chicago’s Blues Fest runs June 9-11, 2017, so take a little detour to walk the area where blues musicians plugged into outlets in storefronts to play to the crowds for tips at the Maxwell Street Market. Urban renewal projects moved the market from its historic location and changed the streetscape, but beautiful restored historic buildings and facades remain. We’ll end the hour-long tour with a stop for lunch on your own at the famous Maxwell Street Polish sausage and hot dog stands on Union Street, in time for you to return to Blues Fest music. The walking tour will take place free, rain or shine, in homage to the annual Chicago Blues Festival.
